Fat Transfers and Fillers

During the aging process, fat deposits within the face start to droop and atrophy. This causes the overlying skin to sag and form wrinkles. Expression lines within the face become more accentuated. Fat and other fillers can be used to rejuvenate an aging face. During the fat transfer process, fat is harvested from other areas of the body such as the stomach, hips or buttocks and injected underneath the facial skin. Other filling materials, which do not last as long, can also be used to prevent a second surgical site. Swelling and bruising are typically minimal with this surgical procedure, but can provide excellent cosmetic results. Fillers are often used in the lips, in the hollows under the eyes, and in deep facial wrinkles.
