Dr Kinnebrew received his Bachelor's Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry in Houston, Texas. A pioneer of dual-degreed surgeons, he earned his Medical Degree at the University of Texas at Houston and completed his Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Florida and the University of Connecticut. He is Board Certified in both Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and Cosmetic Surgery and is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.
Dr Kinnebrew's career has included both academic and private surgical practice, sharing his skills both in the US and developing countries. He was a teaching surgeon at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, where a number of the dental and facial implants in clinical use today were developed. He was instrumental in teaching reconstructive and cosmetic facial surgery. He also directed the Facial Surgery Center of the Gulf South in New Orleans. He has developed several surgical procedures in combined nasal and facial surgeries, and cleft lip and palate repair techniques. Dr Kinnebrew volunteers with organizations such as Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO), a multi-specialty group of doctors who travel to developing countries to perform reconstructive surgeries and teach local physicians and surgeons modern surgical techniques.
Dr Kinnebrew relocated to the Wilmington area and joined the Carolinas Oral & Facial Surgery Center team in 1996. He maintains an active interest in Cosmetic Surgery of the face, in reconstructive surgery of the face and jaws, TMJ surgery and oral surgery, including wisdom teeth and dental implants.
